Pilates for Athletes

At first glance, Thai Boxing and Muay Thai may seem worlds apart. However, the founder of Pilates Joseph Pilates was a professional boxer who opened his own boxing gym and taught self-defence, boxing and Jiu Jitsu. After three months of training pilates, one of his students was said to be able to take a punch to the stomach from world Heavyweight Champ Jack Dempsey without flinching.

While we don’t recommend you ask any boxing champion to test your core out at full power, the fact remains that Pilates is a fantastic way to condition your body. While the slower pace may take getting used to, the benefit of working slowly on specific exercises is that you can focus on perfect posture and really engaging the muscles you are using. This will mean that when you are moving quickly in Muay Thai, you are more aware of the muscles and joints you are engaging and able to use them more effectively and safely. This special class will specifically focus on strength and flexibility equally to ensure you are building your agility and mobility equally. We will help you discover your imbalances and weaknesses to ultimately build you into a strong and confident athlete.

Pilates for Athletes is specifically designed to focus on strength and flexibility equally to ensure you are building your agility and mobility equally. Regular practice will help you discover your imbalances and weaknesses to ultimately build you into a strong and confident athlete.
