Yoga for Muay Thai (Auckland)

Yoga For Muay Thai – Sundays 1pm @ JAI Auckland

We train hard, work hard and play hard, and it is easy to neglect areas of our well-being – and that’s where yoga can help all of us. Both a mental as well as physical workout, this session will teach you engage the deep core muscles which will enhance your power in Muay Thai. Exercise will work towards opening the shoulders and the hips, for higher kicks and to relieve tightness from all that punching. There will also be movements to work on better balance (essential for all those one-legged kicks) and strengthen the knees, ankles, and wrists.

It also gives you a precious hour to work on things you otherwise might not – including your breathing and focusing on stretching key muscles.

During Yoga for Muay Thai you will gain:

  • Increased flexibility
  • Increased muscle strength
  • Greater ability to concentrate
  • More energy and vitality
  • Increased cardio health
  • Improved athletic performance
  • Reduction in the risk of training injuries

Our instructor
Yoga for Muay Thai

Formerly a professional dancer, who would train up to eight hours a day, Mari also trains in aerial hoop and handstands Mari knows all about finding a balance between strenuous exercise, stretching and relaxing. She discovered yoga as a dancer when she was searching for a way to increase her strength and flexibility.  She loved it so much that dancing has now taken a back seat to yoga. She loves teaching classes which focus on helping people find the same balance. She has completed a 200 hour Hatha/vinyasa yoga TTC in India.
