Team JAI

  • Kru Tee: Muay Thai Teacher

Hailing from Buriram, North Thailand, Tee is a 150+ fight veteran who looks scary on the pads - just hear the thunder of his kicks when they hit the pads!

But while he is a scary opponent, he is a very kind teacher who has patience even for the slowest learners (or those with two left feet!). He enjoys breaking down the basics when teaching and you can tell that he is passionate about helping people learn. His style of teaching is relaxed, yet his classes are full of energy, which means student’s get a fun workout while improving their technique at the same time.

What makes him such a stand-out trainer is that he can train any level of students - from beginner to the pro fighter and style his workouts to get the best results from each - whether it’s to improve your fight skills, lose weight, increase fitness or become a master at the Thai clinch. He is a true professional who can teach to the highest level of Muay Thai technique, yet remain humble about his fight pedigree - and it’s clear that he cares about the progress of each one of his students.

His fight style is both Muay Femur (technical) and Muay Kao (knee). He can be an aggressive or counter fighter (basically he’s an all-rounder). He is a proud father of a daughter Taeng Mo (named after her mother’s favourite fruit - Watermelon).

Don’t let his easy-going attitude fool you however. He won’t give you many breaks, so prepare to work hard!

  • Kru Phet: Muay Thai and Muay Boran Teacher

But what truly sets him apart is his unique ability to bridge the gap between traditional Muay Thai and modern sports science. Holding a degree in exercise and sports science from Mahidol University allows him to craft Muay Thai programs which are not only effective and fun, but also tailored to your individual needs and lifestyle. He’s also a certified trainer in Muay Boran (the original form of combat Muay Thai) which ensure you will be learning authentic (and effective) combat skills.

An encouraging and charismatic trainer, you can count on Kru Phet to teach dynamic and engaging group classes which combine a mix of technique as well as conditioning. His also one-on-one personalised training clients can expect to see rapid progress towards meeting customised goals.

  • Su Lin: JAI Founder

JAI’s founder loves Thai food and culture and Muay Thai.

Su-Lin isn’t your typical gym owner. Prior to setting up JAI, she spent over 10 years working as a journalist. where she swapped make-up tips with Boy George, talked fashion with Alicia Keys, had high tea with David Beckham, supper with Anthony Bourdain, sipped champagne with Mandy Moore and chewed the fat with Ronan Keating.  She picked up Muay Thai after interviewing a Muay Thai fighter for CLEO Magazine and he convinced her to give it a go. The physical transformation was incredible, but it was the feeling of empowerment and inner strength that truly captivated her. So captivated, in fact, that she traded her pen for a pair of gloves.

Su-Lin's Muay Thai journey took her to the heart of Thailand, where she trained in camps across Chiang Mai, Bangkok, and Phuket. While she has competed both in Thailand and New Zealand, her true love lies in the transformative power of Muay Thai for everyday people. She passionately believes that Muay Thai's benefits – physical fitness, mental clarity, and a surge of confidence – are for everyone, regardless of athletic background or fighting aspirations. She has competed  in Thailand, training in Muay Thai camps in Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Phuket, but she trains mainly for fitness, with an emphasis on grace, humility and technique rather than fighting.

Su-Lin's mission is to make Muay Thai enjoyable and accessible. She wants to replace the intimidation factor with the joy of movement and self-discovery. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a complete couch potato, she hopes to have the privilege of introducing Muay Thai to you .

  • Dan - Trainer and Front-Of-House

    Dan - Trainer and Front-Of-House

Dan isn't just a friendly face at JAI, he's a passionate advocate for our students' success. He loves seeing people triumph over their anxieties and transform into stronger, more confident individuals. Muay Thai's unique ability to push both your body and mind deeply resonated with Dan. He started out, just like many of you might, unsure and maybe a little intimidated. But Muay Thai's rewarding blend of physical challenge and skill development hooked him, and he's excited to share that journey with you. If you're looking for a supportive and welcoming environment to begin your Muay Thai adventure, Dan will be there to champion you every step of the way.

  • Izzy

Izzy - Trainer and JAI cheerleader

As his title suggests, Izzy’s personality is as big as his voice (which apparently can be heard two streets over…). Starting off his Muay Thai journey at JAI, Izzy has progressed from being a student to a friend and then a valued member of our team.
You’ll find him at JAI even on the days he’s not rostered both training and encouraging all levels of students.
His classes are varied and fun as he makes Muay Thai accessible through games and drills which will challenge you while ensuring you have a smile on your face.

  • Hannah

Hannah - Media and Assistant Trainer

You’ll find Hannah at reception ready to help you out with any questions or roaming round JAI waiting to capture you mid-kick or punch. Hannah’s gift is in championing the achievements of our students via online shout-outs. She’s also a big fan of Muay Thai - having started in her hometown of Hamilton so don’t be surprised that when you catch her in class she has a mean kick… we’ve warned you!

  • Josh - Trainer

Starting off as a reserved member, we were a little surprised when Josh put up his hand to be an assistant trainer. Since then, his personality and skills have led his classes to become a firm favourite with many regulars.
Aside from having solid structured classes (Josh meticulously plans each one) - he is probably also our most relatable trainer. Josh took up Muay Thai as a way to come out of his shell and he’s a good person to help others do the same.
You can count on him to share any tips or advice to improve your Muay Thai game - and also have a good yarn after class!
